Rich Electric Invertek DAI 24/3000

The Rich Electric Invertek DAI 24/3000 is a pure sine wave inverter that turns the 24 volts of your battery bank into 230 volts of mains power. It delivers 3000 watts continuously and handles surges of 4000 watts, which is what counts when a motor kicks in and asks for far more than it draws once it is running.

It belongs to Invertek's low frequency range, built around a toroidal transformer. That is where its weight comes from, and where its stamina comes from too: the chassis is aluminium and the manufacturer rates it for harsh environments, with a working range of -20 ºC to 50 ºC.

A genuinely clean waveform

Harmonic distortion stays below 2%, and the output voltage does not drift more than 1.5% either way. That means you can plug in whatever you like without worrying: television, radio, computers or a microwave oven, which is the appliance that catches most inverters out. The manufacturer mentions it by name because it is the hard case.

Efficiency at full load is 87%, and at rest it draws under 4 watts with power saving switched on. With nothing plugged in, the inverter sits and waits without draining your batteries, and once it senses a load it takes one second to start supplying again.

Protection and control

It protects against overload, short circuit, high or low input voltage, over temperature and reverse polarity by fuse. A row of LEDs on the front tells you what is going on at any moment: powered, running, on standby, or shut down by battery, temperature or overload.

There is a port for a remote controller, ordered separately, which lets you switch the output on and off from another room using a 3 or 15 metre cable.
